Patriots knock off Lowndes

The Pike Liberal Arts junior varsity and varsity Lady Patriots split with Lowndes Academy on Tuesday afternoon in Dothan.

It took five sets, but the varsity Patriots clinched the win 18-25, 24-26, 25-14, 26-24, 19-17.

The win for the Lady Patriots improves their record on the season to 3-1.

“There was a lot of hustle and perseverance,” said head coach Lana Johnson. “We did not give up.”

The Patriots converted 89 percent of their passes and serves in the win and they were successful on 84 percent of their hits.

Morgan Bundy was successful on 100 percent of her serves, while also having two kills. Sarah Elizabeth Calhoun had 12 successful serves and had three aces. Aubrey Maulden had 12 digs.

The JV Lady Patriots fell to Lowndes on Tuesday.

Both teams will be back in action on Monday when they travel to Selma to take on Morgan. The Patriots fell to Morgan Academy earlier in the season.
