Fresh off their double-overtime win over Morgan a week ago in the season opener, the Pike Liberal Arts Patriots take on Crenshaw Christian in the home opener on Friday night.

It was a rainy season opener a week ago in Selma and after the game was delayed by 24 hours, Chip Faircloth scored the game-winning touchdown, giving the Patriots their second-straight season opening overtime win over the Senators.

Senior receiver Davis Allen finished with six catches for 93 yards.

The Patriots return home to take on Crenshaw Christian. The two teams played a season ago in Luverene. The Patriots won last season’s game 24-7.

The Patriots took advantage of Cougar miscues. They forced five turnovers, four of which occurred in the first half.

There will be familiar faces patrolling both sidelines on Friday. Former Pike County head coach Wayne Grant is coaching the Cougars and former Pike Liberal Arts Headmaster Becky Baggett is now at Crenshaw Christian. Patriot head coach Gene Allen is a graduate of Crenshaw Christian.
