Patriots game delayed

Poor weather hampered the excitement of opening night for the Pike Liberal Arts Patriots on Friday night in Selma.
The first road opener for the Patriots since 2016 was called with just just over three minutes remaining in the first quarter.
Both offenses traded three and outs early in the contest on Friday. The first points of the season went to the Patriots. After getting the ball inside the five-yard line, the Patriots drive fizzled setting up a 20-yard field goal for Scott Taylor Renfroe. The junior sent the football through the uprights giving the Patriots the 3-0 lead.
A few plays later lightning struck, forcing a delay. After a lengthy delay the decision was made to delay the game until Saturday afternoon.
The game will resume at 3:00 p.m. at Senator Field in Selma.
