Post 70 sweeps North Florida

After falling behind early, the American Legion Post 70 baseball team won a back-and-forth game against the North Florida Blacksox on Friday afternoon in Troy.

After falling behind early 1-0, Post 70 scored four in the fourth and two more in the sixth and held off to the Blacksox, winning 6-5.

Grayson Stewart got the start and pitched the game’s first two innings. He allowed one unearned run before giving way to JC Ceman, who pitched the next four innings. He allowed four runs on six hits. Reed Jinright pitched the final inning and picked up two strikeouts.

Down 1-0, Post 70 had an RBI double by Cole Smith and an RBI single by Carson Fain to go up 4-1.

The Blacksox rallied to tie the score with three runs in the fifth inning and then took a one-run lead one inning later.

In the bottom of the sixth inning Wood Jinright ripped a two-run single, allowing the tying and leading run to score.

Post 70 finished with eight hits. Smith and Fain each finished with two hits.

Post 70 again found themselves trailing early to the Blacksox in game two before pulling an 8-5 win.

Fain pitched the first three innings and gave up four runs on three hits. Joey Wozniak pitched the final four innings and allowed just one run on one hit.

Matt Snell finished 3-3 at the plate with one RBI, while Will Aaron finished 2-2 with two RBI.
