The Troy Ozone Rookie team kicked off play in the Ozone Rookie State Tournament with an 18-5win over Oxford on Friday afternoon.

Jaxon Wade and Joshua James Gardner each pitched two innings in the win. Wade picked up five strikeouts in his outing. Dalton Jordan and Luke Sikes also got on the mound in the win.

Troy scored the majority of their runs in the fourth and fifth inning. They scored seven runs in the fourth to go up 9-2 before they put the game one inning later when they tallied nine more runs.

Troy finished with nine hits led by Slade Renfroe, Wes Templin and Sikes who each had two hits.

The win for Troy sends them into the winner’s bracket where they will play Enterprise this afternoon beginning at 2 p.m.
