6U All-Stars start tournament 2-0

The Troy 6U Tournament Team went 2-0 in the South State Tournament when they knocked off Smiths Station 25-14 on Saturday afternoon.
Noah Houlton hit and inside home run in the top half of the first inning for Troy. By inning’s end Troy put up the maximum 7 seven runs. Along with Houlton, hitters one through nine in the lineup reached base safely in the inning. Jaylin Copeland, Elliot Cochran, Ethan Ernsberger, Alex Gutierrez, Brooks Wallace and Cole Cleveland all scored for Troy.
Smith’s Station answered immediately with seven runs of their own in the bottom of the first and then held Troy scoreless in the top of the second.
Smith’s Station had their second consecutive seven-run inning when they had nine batters reach base safely.
Cochran hit a two-run home run and Troy scored the maximum seven runs in the inning to even the game at 14 heading into the bottom of the third inning.
Troy’s defense returned the favor when they held Smiths Station scoreless in the bottom of the third inning.
Coggins Brown reached and came around to score Troy’s only run in the fourth and they took a 15-14 lead into the bottom of the fourth.
After Troy held Smiths Station scoreless for the second consecutive inning, They once again scored seven runs in the inning to take a 22-14 lead heading into the bottom of the fifth inning. Ernsberger, Gutierrez, Parker Precise, Wallace, Cleveland, Zone Brookins and Barrett Powell all came around to score.
Cochran drove in two runs in the sixth inning to clinch the win for Troy.
