Lady Trojans fall in pitchers’ duel against LAMP

The Charles Henderson Lady Trojans fell to Loveless Academic Magnet Program 3-1 in a pitchers’ duel on Tuesday afternoon in Troy.

The game was scoreless through all seven innings on Tuesday night. Lamp scored three runs in the top of the eighth and held on to defeat the Trojans in the bottom half of the inning.

The loss for the Trojans drops them to 14-20 on the season.

Sydni Garrett got the start on the mound and pitched all eight innings on Tuesday. She allowed six hits and walked one. She struck out four batters.

After placing a runner at second base to begin the inning due to tiebreaking procedures, Lamp moved the runner to third on a sacrifice bunt. They scored their first run of the game on an error by the Trojans and went on to score two more on back-to-back RBI singles.

The Trojans had the opportunity to put a runner on second base as well to begin their half of the inning.

Stella Gilbreath went to third on a sacrifice bunt by Gracie Sneed. After a Heather Maxwell single, Graci Williams drove in Charles Henderson’s first and only run of the game.

The Trojans totaled four hits in the loss. Maxwell finished 3-4, while Dakota Berry finished 1-2 with a walk.

The Trojans will be back in action on Thursday when they host Opp on senior night.
