Lady Eagles knock off Rebels 13-2

For the second consecutive night, the Goshen Lady Eagles knocked off Zion Chapel via the mercy rule. After knocking off the Rebels 16-1 on Monday night, the Lady Eagles’ offense came back to score 13 in their 13-2 win on Tuesday.

The Eagles went into the fourth inning holding a 5-2 lead. A six-run fourth gave them added insurance.

Lexi McLendon got the start and pitched three innings on Tuesday. McLendon allowed two runs on two hits. Mary-Kaye Mills pitched the remaining two innings, while allowing just two hits.

The Eagles finished with nine hits. Hannah Calhoun finished 3-4 with four runs scored. Kate Warrick and McLendon both finished 2-3, while Madison Campbell and Lydia Harrison both had one hit.

The Eagles had a bases-loaded walk and an RBI double by McLendon in the first and took an early 2-0 lead.

The lead grew to 5 heading into the bottom of the second when the Eagles plated three more runs. All three runs came on a home run off the bat of Warrick to give the Eagles a 5-0 lead.

Two of the Eagles’ six runs in the fourth inning came by way of bases loaded walks. They also got RBI singles by McLendon and Harrison. Morgan Wilkes had an RBI groundout.

Warrick picked up another RBI in the fifth inning and came around to score on error to give the Eagles a 13-2 lead heading into the bottom of the fifth.
