Quick start: Patriots score early in win over Abbeville Christian

Excitement was in the air on the campus of Pike Liberal Arts on Thursday night when the Patriots celebrated senior night. The Patriots finished off the festivities with a 10-0 win over Abbeville Christian.

A seven-run opening inning was all the Patriots needed to put away the Generals on Thursday night. The Patriots tallied four hits in the inning including RBI doubles by Tristan Carter and Levi Sikes. Chandler Golden hit a two-run home run in the inning and Sikes came around to score on a sacrifice fly by Cody Hollis.

The Patriots added another run in the bottom of the second when Carter came around to score on a wild pitch to put the Patriots up 8-0.

The Patriots closed out their scoring with two more runs in the bottom of the third inning when Jayden Jordan hit a two-run double to left field.

Clay Barron got the start for the Patriots. He pitched three innings and surrendered just three hits.

The Patriots had seven hits by seven different hitters on Thursday night. Hollis, Jordan, Carter, Golden, Drew Nelson, Sikes and Marx Copeland.

The Patriots now look ahead to the start of postseason. The Patriots will have a bye in the opening round of the playoffs. They will begin play in the playoffs beginning on April 25.
