Three runs were all the Goshen Lady Eagles needed to knock off area foe New Brockton on Thursday night. The Eagles won 3-0 after scoring all three runs in the top of the second inning.
Senior Hannah Calhoun began the night as Goshen’s starting pitcher. Calhoun shutout the Gamecocks and allowed just two hits, while striking out 10 batters.
The Eagles got seven hits from seven different players in the win. The Eagles had hits by Calhoun, Kate Warrick, Madison Campbell, Brooke Bennett, Lexi McClendon, Lydia Harrison and Shae Shepard.
After a scoreless first inning, the Lady Eagles cracked the scoreboard with three runs in the second. Bennett led off the inning with a single to left and came around to score on an error off the bat of Morgan Wilkes to put Goshen up 1-0. With two runners in scoring position, Calhoun ripped a line drive single to center to drive in both Zoe Warren and Wilkes, bringing the score to 3-0.
The Eagles will be back in action today when they travel to play in the Cougar Classic Invitational in Dothan.
