Lady Patriots snap losing streak with win

The Pike Liberal Arts Lady Patriots snapped a four-game losing streak on Thursday evening when they knocked off Northside Methodist 11-5.
The game went into the top of the sixth inning with the Patriots holding a 4-3 lead. A six-run sixth inning for the Patriots was enough to put them over the top.
Ally Rushing earned the win after she pitched 6.1 innings. She allowed five total runs, three of which were earned. She allowed six hits, while striking out two batters.
Maggie Phelps gave the Patriots the early lead in the first inning when she drove in Ansley Adams on a groundout to the pitcher.
After three scoreless innings, the Patriots extended their lead to 4-0. Avery Henderson scored on a passed ball for the inning’s first run. Morgan Bundy followed up with a double, driving in Dannah Dawson. The final run came across to score on an error off the bat of Grace Rushing, bringing the score to 4-0.
The Patriots all but put the game away with their five-run outburst in the sixth inning. Atwell came around to score the first run of the inning on a Bundy single. Ally Rushing brought in the next two on a double to center field to bring the score to 7-3. Grace Rushing had an RBI single and Phelps closed out the inning with a two-run home run, bringing the score to 10-3.
The Patriots scored their final run in the seventh inning. Atwell singled to third to drive in Henderson.
In all, the Patriots finished with 11 hits. Bundy, Grace Rushing, Phelps, Ally Rushing and Henderson all had two hits for the Patriots.
The Lady Patriots will travel to play Macon East on Tuesday.
