Junior varsity Patriots sweep Wilcox Academy

For the second consecutive day the Pike Liberal Arts Junior Varsity Patriots swept their way through a double header on Friday afternoon. Friday’s sweep came at the expense of Wilcox Academy. The Patriots won game one 10-0, before completing the sweep with 7-4 win. The sweep gives the Patriots a 15-3 record on the season.

The Patriots scored in all four innings in game one, including four in the bottom of the second.

Skylar Kidd pitched all four innings of game one. Kidd allowed just two hits and struck out eight batters.

The Patriots finished with six hits. Kase Chirico finished 2-2 with two RBI. KC Bradford, Morgan Sanders, Jayden Jordan and Parker Adams all had one hit.

Kidd drove in the game’s first run in the first inning and by inning’s end, the Patriots had a 2-0 lead after Kidd scored on a single by Chirico.

The Patriots had RBI singles by Sanders and Chirico in the second inning. Add that to a bases-loaded walk and a dropped strike three, and the Patriots increased their lead to 6-0 after two innings.

Bradford added to the lead with a single in the third to put the Patriots up 7-0. In the game’s final inning, the Patriots scored their final three runs after an RBI single and groundout by Adams and Davis Menefee.

After scoring three runs in the opening inning of game two, the Patriots put the game out of reach with four more in the fourth before holding on in the fifth to clinch the three-run win.

Jordan picked up the win for the Patriots after throwing five innings. He allowed four unearned runs on five hits, he struck out seven batters.

The Patriots finished with four hits. Jordan finished 2-3 with four RBI and a run scored. KC Bradford and Morgan Sanders had the other two hits.

The Patriots will be back in action on Monday when they travel to take on Lee-Scott.
