PLAS sweeps Autauga

The Pike Liberal Arts junior varsity Patriots swept the Autauga Academy Generals in a double-header on Thursday night in Troy.

The Patriots scored six runs in the first inning on their way to an 11-3 game one victory. The Patriots scored in all four innings of game two and won 12-4.

The Patriots scored all 11 runs in the first two innings, including five runs in their first at-bat in game one.

Davis Kilcrease pitched four innings for the Patriots. Kilcrease allowed three runs, but only two were earned on four hits and four walks. He struck out four batters.

KC Bradford pitched the one inning and allowed one hit. He struck out one.

The Patriots accumulated a total of six hits. Bradford, Morgan Sanders, Tre Holmes, Davis Menefee, Cannon McClain and Cade Renfroe all had one hit.

Cade Renfroe had the only RBI hit in what was a six-run first inning. He singled to center to score Tre Holmes. The Patriots had two bases-loaded walks, an RBI groundout and two runs came around to score on an error off the bat of Bradford.

After the Generals scored two runs in the second inning, the Patriots tacked on their final five runs. After the Generals walked the bases loaded, Holmes walked, forcing Morgan Sanders in from third base. One batter later, Menefee cleared the bases with a double to left.

Parker Adams got the start in game two. Adams pitched 1.1 innings for the Patriots and allowed three runs on one hit. Renfroe pitched the remaining 2.2 innings without allowing a hit.

The Patriots finished with 10 hits. Jayden Jordan, Skylar Kidd, Case Chirico and Holmes all had two hits for the Patriots. Bradford and Menefee each had one hit.

The Patriots will host another double-header on Friday afternoon when they play Wilcox Academy.
