JV Lady Patriots end home tournament 4-0

The Pike Liberal Arts junior varsity Lady Patriots finished off their tournament with a 4-0 record with a pair of wins on Saturday afternoon.
The Lady Patriots began the tournament on Friday with wins against Lee-Scott and Northside Methodist.
On Saturday, the Patriots closed out the tournament with a 3-2 win over Abbeville and a 2-1 win over Lakeside.
The two wins for the Patriots improves their record on the season to 5-5.
Bella Maulden got the start for the Patriots in game one. She pitched five innings and gave up two runs, neither of which were earned on four hits. She struck out six batters.
The Patriots finished with four hits in game one. Emily Bryan, Ally Rushing, Rayleigh Carter and Kaylee Copeland each had a hit.
The Patriots scored two of their runs in the bottom of the first after they started the game trailing 2-0. Carter reached base on an error that allowed Bryan to score and Kate Nelson grounded out to first and allowed Rushing to score, tying the game at two.
The Patriots scored what turned out to be the winning run in the fourth when Carter scored on an error.
Rushing got the ball as the starter in game two. Rushing pitched five innings and allowed one run on three hits. She struck out 11 batters.
The Patriots finished with five hits. Bryan finished 2-2 with one RBI, while Carter, Rushing and Tate Gardner all had one hit.
Trailing 1-0 heading into the bottom of the third, the Patriots took a 2-1 lead. Rushing singled and drove in Caroline Senn to tie the game at one. Bryan scored the leading run on a passed ball.
The Lady Patriots will be back in action on Tuesday, April 2 when they travel to take on Autauga Academy.
