Day one sweep: JV Patriots earn a pair of wins in home tournament

The Pike Liberal Arts junior varsity softball team swept their way through day one of their tournament on Friday afternoon in Troy.
The Patriots won game one over Lee-Scott 11-1, before they closed out the day with a 4-3 win over Northside Methodist.
Ally Rushing pitched five innings in game one and allowed just one run on one hit, while striking out 15 batters.
The Patriots finished with 15 hits in the win. Both Caroline Senn and Rushing finished 3-4 with three RBI. Senn scored three runs. Emily Bryan, Raliegh Carter, Kate Nelson and Grace Fry all had two hits. Tanna Singleton had one hit for the Patriots.
Rushing singled on a line drive to right to drive in Senn in the bottom of the fifth to give the Patriots the game two win against Northside Methodist.
Rushing finished game two 1-3 with 2 RBI. Kaylee Copeland went 1-2.
Bella Maulden got the start in game two for the Patriots. Maulden pitched all five innings and allowed two earned runs, three total on two hits and two walks. She struck out six batters.
The Patriots will begin day two at 10:00 a.m. when they take on Abbeville Christian. They will take on Lakeside beginning at 1:00.
