Patriots score 10 runs in the fourth in 23-5 win over Abbeville

The Pike Patriots varsity baseball team knocked off Abbeville Christian 23-5 on the road Thursday evening.

The Patriots scored 10 runs in the fourth inning and rode it to a comfortable win.

The win pushes the Patriots to 16-5 on the season.

The Trojans finished game one with 15 hits led by Davis Allen, who went 3-4 with 5 RBI and four runs scored. Chandler Golden went 2-3 with four RBI and three runs scored. Cody Hollis and Trevor Barron also had two hits in the game one win.

Clay Barron pitched the game’s first three innings. Barron allowed five runs on eight hits. Tripp Spivey pitched one inning of work and struck out two batters without surrendering a hit.

Before scoring 10 runs in the fourth, the Patriots scored four runs in the first, three runs in the second and six runs in the third.

The Patriot softball team swept Abbeville Christian on Thursday by scores of 13-3 and 12-0.

The Patriots boys will travel to play Bessemer today and Tuscaloosa on Saturday. The softball team will participate in the Abbeville Tournament at the end of next week.
