Goshen baseball and softball in action on Tuesday night

The Goshen Eagle varsity baseball and softball teams were in action on Tuesday afternoon. The Goshen baseball team righted the ship after Monday’s loss when they defeated Georgiana 11-1 on Tuesday night. The Lady Eagles fell to Luverne in area play 12-10.

The Goshen boys improved to 9-2 on the year with the win.

McGwire Stanley got the start for the Eagles. Stanley pitched four innings and allowed one unearned run on three hits and two walks. He struck out six batters. Caleb Gamble pitched in the final inning without giving up a hit. He struck out two.

The Eagles finished with four hits in the win led by by Stanley, who finished 2-2 with 2 RBI and two runs scored. Bryan Galloway and Jeff Warrick had the other two hits for the Eagles.

The Eagles entered the fourth inning holding a 4-0 lead, but a seven-run inning gave Goshen the separation they were looking for.

The Eagles had two hits in the inning by Galloway and Warrick, the rest of the runs scored on errors and walks by Georgiana. The Eagles had six players reach via either walk, a hit batter or an error in the fourth inning.

The Lady Eagles fell to 6-8 with their loss to Luverne.

Mary-Kate Mills got the start and went two innings, giving up eight total runs, four of which were earned on seven hits. Lexi McLendon pitched the remaining 3.1 innings and gave up four runs on five hits.

The Eagles were led at the plate by Kate Warrick, Madison Campbell, Lydia Harrison and Kaci Wilkes, all of whom had two hits.
