Patriots score early and often in 13-4 win over Lakeside

A seven-run second inning lifted the Pike Liberal Arts junior varsity Patriots to a 13-4 win over Lakeside Academy on Monday night in Troy.

The Patriots scored the game’s first 12 runs in the first two innings and cruised to a nine-run win and improving their record on the season to 8-2.

Davis Kilcrease got the start for the Patriots. Kilcrease pitched three innings and allowed two runs on five hits and one walk. He struck out three batters.

Cade Renfroe pitched the remaining inning. He allowed two runs on two hits and struck out one.

The Patriots finished with six hits by Kase Chirico, Jayden Jordan, Skylar Kidd, Morgan Sanders, Renfroe and Cannon McClain.

Already up 5-0 heading into the second inning, the Patriots scored seven more in the second to increase their lead to 12-0.

The Patriots only had three hits in the inning, but two of them were a two-run home run by Jordan and an RBI double by Renfroe. Kidd also doubled in the inning.

The Patriots scored their final run of the game in the third when Cade Edwards walked with the bases loaded.

The JV Patriots will host a JV tournament beginning on Monday.
