All-state teams announced

The 2018-2019 basketball season has come to a close and on Monday, attention shifted to the All-State announcements.

Locally, players were well-represented on the all-state teams. Charles Henderson High School finished with three players on the team. The Lady Trojans were represented by first teamer Niaira Jones and second teamer Samira Moore. Terrell Sistrunk represented the Trojan boys when he was named honorable mention in Class 5A.

Jones finished the season with 15.7 points per game with 4.3 rebounds and 7.8 assists. Moore had 12.6 points per game with nine rebounds.

Sistrunk finished his season with 12.7 points per game with 9.5 rebounds.

Bree Griffin led the Eagles scoring in 2018-19. For her efforts she was named Second-team All-State. In her senior season, Griffin posted 537 total points, with 129 rebounds, 58 assists, 17 blocks and 78 steals.

Pike County’s Andres Burney joined Jones from Charles Henderson when he was named First-team All-State. Burney finished the year scoring 22 points per game with 14 rebounds.
