Lady Eagles fall to Ariton

The Goshen Lady Eagles trailed 4-3 heading into the top of the seventh inning, but a five-run inning for Ariton led to a 9-5 win for the Purple Cats.
The Eagles fall to 5-4 with the loss.
Lexi McLendon got the start for the Eagles. McLendon pitched a complete game and allowed 12 runs, nine of which were earned on 12 hits and five walks. McLendon finished with three strikeouts.
The Eagles finished with 11 hits. Kate Warrick went a perfect 4-4 with two RBI and two runs scored. Hannah Calhoun and McLendon both finished with two hits, while Brooke Bennett, Madison Campbell, and Zoe Warren all had one.
The Eagles went into the bottom of the fifth trailing 4-1. They got back to within one after Warrick doubled in Calhoun and came around to score on a sacrifice fly by Campbell.
With the hopes of a win still in their sights, the Eagles allowed five seventh-inning runs. They scored the five runs on four hits, a walk and a hit-batter.
Down 9-3, the Eagles pulled back to within four. Bennett doubled on a line drive to right to drive in Warrick and McLendon picked up an RBI when she singled in Bennett on a hit to center field.
