Ally Rushing got the start for the Patriots in the pitching circle on Tuesday. Rushing pitched four innings before ultimately giving way to Danna Dawson, who pitched the remaining three.

The Knights scored the game’s first five runs of the game. They scored two in the first before adding three more in the third inning when they hit a single, a double and a triple to go up 5-0.

The Patriots scratched across their first run in the bottom of the third inning. Morgan Bundy reached second to begin the inning when she hit a ball that bounced off the glove of the center fielder. Bundy later came around to score on a wild pitch. The Patriots had their opportunity to score more runs in the inning after both Maggie Phelps and Grace Rushing reached base, but a double play ended the Patriot threat.

The Knights immediately got the run back in the top of the fourth with a solo home run to center field to bring the score to 6-1.

Morgan Bundy and Grace Rushing both walked to start a scoring threat in the fifth inning. Aubreigh Maulden drove in Avery Henderson on a single to bring the Patriots back to within four runs at 6-2.

The Knights put the game out of reach in the fifth when they scored their final three runs to give them a seven-run advantage at 9-2.

The Patriots finished with nine hits. Bundy finished with three hits including a double, while Grace Rushing and Emily Dean had two hits. Phelps and Maulden each had one hit.

The Patriots will take part in the Borders War Tournament at Glenwood beginning on Thursday.
