Pulling away: Bulldogs’ bats come alive in 12-2 win over Daleville

The Pike County Bulldogs defeated Daleville 12-2 in game one of a scheduled double header on Friday night in Brundidge.
The Bulldogs used a pair of four-run innings to build a comfortable lead before closing things out after six innings of play.
Chance Brunney got the start and the win for the Bulldogs after he pitched the game’s first 3.2 innings. He held the Warhawks scoreless, while allowing just one hit.
Joseph Jordan and JaQuavian Johnson both pitched for the Bulldogs in the win.
After a scoreless top of the first, the Bulldogs scored the game’s first four runs in the bottom of the inning. Tyrese Johnson drove in both Quay Coleman and JaQuavian Johnson on a single. One batter later, Alex Henderson ripped a double to left center, driving in Tyler Johnson. Joe Jordan singled in Henderson to put the Bulldogs up 4-0.
The Bulldogs doubled their lead at 8-0 in the second inning when they they got a sacrifice fly by Corey Rotton, a RBI single by Tyrese Johnson and a second double by Henderson.
After a third-straight 1-2-3 inning by Brunney, the Bulldogs stretched their lead to 9-0 when Coleman reached safely on an error.
Ethan Singleton gave the Bulldogs a double-digit lead with a single in the fourth to bring the score to 10-0. The Warhawks scored their only two runs of the game in the fifth after the Bulldogs hit two batters and walked two more.
The Bulldogs scored one run in the fifth on a double by JaQuavian Johnson. One inning later they ended the game when Amaghie Lampley reached safely on a bunt attempt that allowed Rotton to score the Bulldogs’ 12 run.
