The Goshen Lady Eagles saw their 2019 season come a close on Monday night when they fell to Geneva County 64-48 in the Class 2A sub-regionals in Hartford.

The Lady Eagles were down by just one point after the first half, but 41 second-half points were too much to overcome.

Senior Bree Griffin, in her final game with the Eagles, led Goshen with 30 points, while fellow senior Jamecia Berry finished with 13. Anastasia Mallard had three and Briona Burden had two.

The Lady Eagles fell behind early in the opening quarter and went into the second trailing 13-5.

The Lady Eagles had their most productive quarter in the second when they outscored the Bulldogs 17-10 before heading into the locker room trailing 23-22.

The Bulldogs were able to get a little more breathing room in the third quarter when they held the Bulldogs to 15 points compared to their 19 points. Goshen went into the final quarter trailing by five.

That was as close as they would get. They allowed the Bulldogs to score 22 fourth quarter points to seal the win and a trip to the regional round of the state playoffs.
