Goshen knocks off Gamecocks

The Goshen Lady Eagles punched their ticket to the Class 2A Area 4 championship game after they knocked off New Brockton 55-41 in round one on Monday night in Samson.
The Eagles, with the win, also secured a spot in the Class 2A Sub-regionals next week.
Senior Bree Griffin led the Eagles with 28 points and came one rebound shy of a double-double after she hauled in nine rebounds. Senior Anastasia Mallard had six points with 13 rebounds and senior Harmony Robinson had five points and 12 rebounds.
The Eagles will play the winner of Samson and Zion Chapel in the Area 4 Finals on Thursday beginning at 6 p.m.
The Pike County Lady Bulldogs were also in action on Monday night when they took on Houston Academy in the opening round of the Class 3A Area 4 Tournament at Providence Christian High School. The Bulldogs fell to Houston Academy 47-40, ending their season.
There will be four more local area tournaments getting underway on Tuesday. The Trojan boys will host Rehobeth, the Pike County boys will take on Providence Christian at Houston Academy, the Zion Chapel boys will take on Samson and Goshen boys will host New Brockton.
