Lady Eagles knock off Brantley 58-52

The Goshen Eagles defeated rival Brantley 58-52 on Thursday night in Brantley.

Senior Bree Griffin finished with a game-high 34 points in Goshen’s win. Anastasia Mallard finished with eight points, while Ella Baker finished with seven. Charlotte Lee finished with four points, while Harmony Robinson and Briona Burden had two.

Both teams played to a 13-13 tie after the firs quarter. Griffin went to the free throw line a few times in the quarter and finished with five points heading into the second.

Griffin and the Eagles picked up the pace a little more in the second quarter. The senior scored 10 points in the quarter and the Eagles went into the halftime holding a 31-27 lead.

Brantley came out in the third quarter and outscored the Eagles 14-12 after they held Griffin to six, third quarter points. The game entered the fourth quarter with the Eagles leading 43-41.

The Eagles held on to their slim lead when they outscored the Bulldogs 15-11 in the fourth quarter.

The varsity boys didn’t didn’t find the success that the Lady Eagles did against Brantley. They fell to the Bulldogs 82-36.

RaQuan Martin led the way for the Eagles with 11 points. Jeffrey Warrick finished with six points and Tre Dix had five.

The Eagles will be back in action this evening when they take on Luverne.
