The Troy Trojan baseball team will ride into the 2019 season with a pair of preseason All-Sun Belt selections.

The league announced on Thursday that junior third baseman Drew Frederic and sophomore outfielder Rigsby Mosley were both selected as members of the All-Sun Belt Conference teams.

Frederic finished 2018 with a .331 batting average with 20 doubles, seven home runs, while also swiping 28 basses, good enough for 20th most in the country. Frederic was a all-conference, all-region and NCAA Regional all-tournament selection following last season. Earlier in the offseason, Frederic was named a 2019 Collegiate Baseball Preseason All-American.

“I’m not letting it affect me that much,” Frederic said prior to hearing the news about his All-Conference selection. “Yeah it’s cool, but it doesn’t mean anything until you preform.”

Frederic hopes to carry over his success from last year, including his ability to steal bases.

“I hope I can do it again this year,” Frederic said. “It will be a little harder this year because they are actually going to be expecting it. As a team, we are really fast and athletic like we were last year. I think we have the potential to steal bases like we did last year.”

Mosley is coming off one of the more impressive freshman seasons in school history. The Sun Belt Freshman of the Year batted .322 with 12 doubles, five triples, five home runs and 51 RBI during the season. He became the school’s 53rd All-American.

“It was really awesome,” Mosely said last Saturday. “It was a lot of fun the entire year. We had a really good team and everyone fed off each other. It was a lot of fun and I’m really blessed by it.”

The Trojans will begin their season on February 15 when they host Central Michigan for a four-game series. They will begin conference play on March 15.

The Trojans were picked to finish third in the Sun Belt Eastern Division in the Preseason Coaches’ Poll on Wednesday morning.
