Eagles finish area play undefeated

The Goshen Eagles boys’ basketball team finished off area play with a 78-54 win over New Brockton on Monday night in Goshen.

The win for the Eagles finished off an undefeated run in Class 2A Area 4.

Four Goshen Eagles finished in double figures, including two players that broke the 20-point plateau.

RaQuan Martin finished with a team-high 24 points, while senior Caleb Dawson had 20 points.

Dakari Pelton had 13 points, while Keyshawn Boyd finished with 11 points.

Michael McBryde finished with four points, while Makel Avery and Tre Dix had two points.

With area play now in the rearview mirror, the Goshen Eagles turn their sights to the area tournament in the first week of February.

By virtue of their undefeated record, the Eagles will host the area tournament beginning on February 5. The Eagles will take on the same Gamecocks in round one with the winner advancing to take on the winner of Zion Chapel and Samson.

Before the beginning of the area tournament, the Eagles will close out the regular season with a road game against Brantley and a home game against Luverne.

The Eagles will take on Brantley on Thursday.
