Bulldogs down Notasulga

One game after forcing a tie for the regular season championship, the Pike County Bulldogs hosted Notasulga in a rare matinee game on Monday afternoon.

The Bulldogs knocked off the Blue Devils 64-51.

Andres Burney finished the game with a double-double when he scored 22 points, hauled in 19 rebounds and had six blocked shots. Senior Jaidyn Wilson finished with 19 points and had eight rebounds.

The Bulldogs outscored the Blue Devils in the first half 34-24. Wilson led the way with 12 points in the opening half.

The Bulldogs gave themselves a little more separation in the third quarter. Burney scored 11 points, helping the Bulldogs outscore the Blue Devils 22-15 in the third quarter. They went into the fourth leading 56-39.

The Patriots were outscored in the fourth quarter 12-8, but their cushion was too much for the Blue Devils.

Amaghie Lampley finished with seven points, while Kevon Harris and Lawrence Silar both finished with five points. Bendarius Myhand and Zerathan McKinney had three.

The Bulldogs will be back in action today when they host Carroll High School.

On Monday, virtue of a tie in area play, the Bulldogs and Houston Academy were forced to participate in a coin flip to determine who will host the upcoming area tournament. The Raiders won the toss. The area tournament will take place next Wednesday when the Bulldogs take on Providence Christian at 6 p.m.
