Lady Patriots can’t overcome slow start in loss

The Pike Lady Patriots fell to Macon-East 50-47 on Thursday night in Montgomery.

The loss for the Patriots drops their overall record on the season to 10-11.

Shelby Renfroe led the way for the Patriots when the scored 16 points. Tiffany Johnson and Sarah Todd Floyd each scored eight points in the loss, while Caroline Senn had five.

Renfroe knocked down a pair of three-pointers in the opening quarter, but it wasn’t enough to give the Patriots the lead heading into the second quarter.  The Knights carried the lead after outscoring the Patriots 16-10.

Renfroe kept it going in the second quarter when she earned seven more points. The Patriots went into halftime trailing 27-22.

The Patriots were able to outscore the knights in the second half 25-23, but it was three points shy of catching the Knights.

The Patriots will be back in action today when they play host to Hooper Academy.
