Bulldogs down the Raiders

The Pike County Bulldogs knocked off area foe Houston Academy 56-35 on Monday night in Brundidge.
The win for the Bulldogs improves their overall record to 11-5. Their area record improves to 3-1.
Andres Burney led the way for the Bulldogs with 24 points, 14 rebounds and six blocked shots. Jaidyn Wilson also finished in double figures with 14 points and eight rebounds.
Andres Burney scored seven early points in the opening quarter, outscoring Houston Academy 7-6. Burney was back at it was it in the second quarter when he again outscored the Houston Academy offense by scoring eight points. The Bulldogs went into halftime holding a 27-12 lead.
Wilson got his game going in the third quarter with six points. Houston Academy attempted to claw back into the contest, scoring 16 third quarter points. Fortunately for the Bulldogs, they kept Houston Academy 15 points down heading into the fourth quarter at 43-28.
The Bulldogs, led by Burney and Wilson, slammed the door shut when they combined to score eight of the Bulldogs 13 fourth quarter points.
The Bulldogs will be back in action on Saturday when they host Wicksburg beginning with the junior varsity boys at 1 p.m.
