The Pike Liberal Arts Patriots returned from a long holiday break on Tuesday afternoon when they hosted the rival Fort Dale Eagles.

The Lady Varsity Patriots fell to the Eagles 55-36. The loss for the Patriots drops their record on the season to 9-9.

The Lady Patriots got off to a quick start behind the arc against the Eagles. Shelby Renfroe and Tiffany Johnson got the scoring started for the Patriots with a pair of three pointers. Trailing 6-3, The Eagles closed out the first quarter on a 14-0 run and carried a 17-6 lead into the second quarter.

Renfroe began the second quarter like she did the first with three points, but this time it was done the old fashioned way after she went to the free throw line after a made basket. The three-point play brought the Patriots back to within seven at 17-10.

The three-point shot kept the Patriots in the game in the second quarter. Ansley Adams joined in on the fun when she knocked down two three pointers in the quarter. Still, the seven-point deficit would be the smallest in the quarter. The Patriots went into halftime trailing by 13 at 33-20.

Renfroe finished the third quarter with six points. After Johnson hit a late free throw, the Patriots went into the final quarter trailing 44-27 after scoring just seven points.

The Patriots played a few reserves in the fourth quarter after the game continued to slip away. They got baskets from Tanna Singleton, Sarah Todd Floyd, Lakin Harrell and Kacie Bell.

Renfroe finished the game with a team-high 16 points, while Adams finished with eight and Johnson finished with 4.

The Pike Liberal varsity boys wrapped up the evening with a convincing 50-32 win over the rival Eagles.

The win for the Patriots improves their record on the season to 10-4.

Ty Singleton was the lone Patriot to score in double figures with 13 points. Drew Nelson finished with nine points, while Jade Sikes, Javon Christian, Nick O’Brian all had six.

The Patriots will be back in action on Thursday when they travel to take on Northside.
