Trojan Arena will be a busy venue this afternoon when it hosts the Troy women’s and men’s basketball teams in a double header beginning at noon.
The Troy women’s basketball kicks off the double header against Talladega and the men close out the afternoon against Carver College beginning at approximately 2:15.
Admission is free for both games at Trojan Arena.
Both teams come into their contest after a little bit of a break. The Troy women (6-2) will see their first game action since their loss to former rival Middle Tennessee State on December 4. The loss snapped a six-game winning streak for the Trojans.
Amber Rivers continues to lead the Trojan offense by scoring 12.4 points per game, while Kayla Robinson has averaged 12.8 points, 6.8 rebounds and 5.2 assists over the last five games.
Talladega rides into Trojan Arena with a 12-2 record. Today’s game with the Trojans will be their second game against a Division-1 program. They lost to Alabama A&M on November 1.
The Trojan men will see their first action today since they lost to No. 11 Florida State.
The Trojans enter the game with a 3-5 overall record after dropping two straight and four out of their last six.
Jordon Varnado continues to lead the Trojans offensively. The senior is averaging 16 points per game, good enough for 10th best in the conference, while averaging 7.9 rebounds.
Three other Trojans join Varnado in averaging double figures, Alex Hicks averages 11.3 points per game, while B.J. Miller scores 10.6 per game. Javan Johnson tallies 10.5 points per game.
