Gymnasium wall collapses at Pike County High School

The Troy Fire Department responded to Pike County High School at approximately 5:36 p.m. Friday evening, to reports that multiple Oakman High football players had been injured by a collapsing wall.

Superintendent Dr. Mark Bazzell said officials are not yet sure why the wall collapsed, but that five Oakman players were being treated and transported to Tory Regional Medical Center.

Troy Fire Chief Michael Stephens said the injuries are non-life-threatening.

The decision on what to do about the Oakman vs Pike County football game has been postponed until 8:30 this evening. The game is the first round of the Alabama High School Athletic Association State Playoffs.
