The Pike County Bulldogs close out region play this evening against Straughn at Bulldogs Stadium in Brundidge.

The Bulldogs stormed its way through the season’s first eight games with a 7-1 record. They hope to make it a clean sweep of Region 2 with a win over the Tigers.

“It comes and it goes even faster,” said head coach Fred Holland. “Right now, we are trying to finish out the region the right way. I can honestly say we have had a good week of practice and the guys are eager about playing at home. They’re eager to play another game.”

The Bulldogs have won their last 10 region games going back to last season. They hope to continue that momentum into their final one of 2018.

“It’s very important,” Holland said. “I have talked to my guys about finishing the season the right way. A lot of time you can be complacent with wins. Learning to deal with success is very important to us.”

The Tigers stalk their way into Bulldog Stadium with a 2-7 overall record and a 2-4 record within Region 2. They are coming off a 59-7 loss to Providence Christian last week and are currently in the midst of a two-game losing streak.

“We are looking for them to pull out all the stops,” Holland said. “This is their last game of the season. They have gotten a lot better than people think. They made a coaching change and the kids have really responded to the coach that they got. We really look for them to stay in the double wing and run the ball.”

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
