Charles Henderson linebacker Javontrez Allen welcomed news earlier this week that he has been selected to participate in the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Game this December.

Allen will be one of 40 players to strap on his helmets and shoulder pads to represent the state of Alabama in the annual game in Montgomery.

“We’re very proud of Javontrez,” said head coach Brad McCoy. “He is one of the only guys from our part of the state that got picked. We are very proud of him. He is a very humble kid, hard worker and we are excited about that opportunity.”

McCoy sent out a nomination and the selection committee watched film and determined he was worthy of a selection.

Allen will be participating in a game full of college prospects. It will be an opportunity for him to show off his skills in front of college scouts and coaches.

“It ups his stock,” McCoy said. “These are the best high school football players in our state and in the state of Mississippi. He is going to be on a big stage and seen by every college coach in America. It puts him in great company and it’s going to give him an opportunity to sign with a really good school. He has a tremendous skillset and he is a really good football player.”

The game will be played at Montgomery’s Crampton Bowl on Monday, December 17 at 6:30 p.m.
