Patriots remain undefeated after 41-28 win over Freeport

The Pike Liberal Arts Patriots spent their Friday night down in Florida and left with a 41-28 win over the Freeport Bulldogs.

The win for the Patriots improves their record on the season to 3-0.

Jade Sikes got the scoring started when he carried the football into the endzone from the 5-yard line and with 4:31 remaining in the opening quarter the Patriots took a 7-0 lead.

The Bulldogs took the ensuing kickoff for touchdown but missed the extra point bringing the score to 7-6.

After another Bulldogs touchdown gave them a lead at 13-7, Sikes scored his second touchdown of the night on a 68-yard touchdown run to give the Patriots their second lead of the game at 14-13 with just 16 seconds remaining in the opening half.

Sikes wasn’t done, he scored his third touchdown of the first half, this time from four yards out giving the Patriots a 21-13 lead heading into halftime.

Sikes got things going with his arm in the second half when he connected with Tristan Carter on a 21-yard touchdown pass to extend the Patriots lead to 27-13.

After a Freeport touchdown, the Patriots once again answered with another big run, this time from Cody Hollis from 28-yards out.

The Patriots put the game out of reach when senior Max Copeland picked off a Freeport Pass and ran it back for a 35-yard touchdown bringing the score to 41-20.

The Patriots will be back in action next Friday night when they travel to Dothan to take on Northside.
