Eagles open up the season with win over Straughn

The Goshen Eagles varsity volleyball team won their season opener on Thursday when they knocked off Straughn.

The Junior High Eagles kicked off the night when they defeated Straughn 25-22, 25-20. The junior varsity Eagles dropped their first match of the season 20-25 and 20-25.

Kaci Wilks had one ace, seven points scored and 10 digs. Morgan Wilks had three aces, three points scored one kill and 10 assists.

The varsity Eagles finished off the night winning their match in four games, 25-22, 21-25, 25-23 and 25-20.

Olivia Kyzar finished with five aces, 14 points scored, 18 assists and six digs. Kate Warrick had three points scored, three kills and 20 assists. Hannah Calhoun finished with one ace, three points scored, three assists and 21 digs, while Molly Wares had five kills and 15 digs. Anastasia Mallard finished with 13 kills, 4 blocks and two digs.

The Eagles will be back in action on Tuesday when they host Brantley.
