The Troy Tiger Sharks wrapped up their swim season at the State Swim meet this weekend at the Crossplex.

The Tiger Sharks had 22 swimmers qualify for the State Swim meet during the district meet earlier this month. After improving for much of the summer, many of the Tiger Shark swimmers improved on their overall times at state.

“It went well,” said head coach Nicklaus Chrysson. “Some kids went faster than the times they went into the meet with. For some kids, this was the first-time swimming at state, so they were excited and nervous, but they were ready to swim.”

Addison Bruner came in first place in both the 50-meter fly and breaststroke in Birmingham, earning her the stop spot in the state in her age group.

Nicholas Slobodchikoff finished his 100-freestyle swim 2.87 seconds faster than his previous best time. Bryce Tatum finished the 50-freestyle with a time of 25.45. Hunter Ross completed the 50-breast stroke nearly 12 seconds faster than his previous best time.

“Hunter only swims two months out of the year and he improved a lot,” Chrysson said. “The others hit it hard in the summer and it showed at state.”

The Tiger Sharks’ successful trip to Birmingham capped off another fun summer in the pool.

“It’s good to see the kids improve over the summer for not having any practice for 9 to 10 months out of the year,” Chrysson said. “It’s also exciting for them. They worked so hard over the summer and it paid off in the end.”
