AA Rookies, Troy Ozone pick up tournament wins

AA Rookie: Troy 19 – Enterprise 5

The Troy 8U All-Stars moved one step closer to claiming a district championship on Monday night when they knocked off rival Enterprise at the Troy Sportsplex.

Troy picked up a total of 19 hits in the win. Dreyton Wingard went a perfect 3-3 at the plate with four RBI. Ty’Rin Toney, Colten Campbell, Connor Sanders, Mark Griffin and Carlos Valencia also went 3-3 at the plate.

Troy will be back in action today beginning at 6 p.m. If a game two is necessary it will follow immediately after the conclusion of game one.

Ozone: Troy 8 – Luverne 5

It took seven innings, but the Troy Ozone team picked up a win over Luverne on Monday night in Luverne.

Jackson Cleveland got the nod as Troy’s starting pitcher. Cleveland pitched into the sixth inning before running out of pitches. Parker Adams pitched the last out for Troy. After picking up the final out in the sixth, Adams struck out the side in the seventh.

Troy finished with eight hits led by Adams who had two. Troy also got hits by Braden Prestwood, Houston Gunter, Myles Tyler, Slade Renfroe, Pruitt Vaughn, Cole Pugh and Tyler McLendon.

Troy will play a best two-out-of-three series with Enterprise on Friday night to determine the district championship.

Ozone Rookie: Enterprise 11 Troy 2

Troy Ozone’s quest for a district championship came up short on Monday after they fell to  Enterprise 11-2.

With the second place finish, Troy has clinched a berth in the upcoming state tournament.

Cade Edwards got the start on the mound for the Trojans.

Troy finished the contest with seven hits. Hayden Adamson, KaNeil Lewis, Jordan McBryde, Edwards, Cooper Campbell, Rhodes Baker and Connor Jones all picked up hits for Troy.

Troy, via their second-place finish earned the right to play in the State Tournament in Oxford.
