Patriots sweep area foe Lakeside

The Pike Patriots swept Lakeside in area play on Saturday afternoon in Troy. The Patriots took home game one 14-0 before winning game two 16-1.

With the two wins the Patriots improve to 26-4 on the season.

Reed Jinright got the start for the Patriots in game one on Saturday. Jinright pitched all five innings of the shortened game. He allowed four hits, one walk and he struck out five batters.

The Patriots finished with 14 hits in game one. Davis Allen, Reed Jinright, Wood Jinright, Cole McWhorter and Jade Sikes all finished with two hits in the win. Wood Jinright finished with a team-high five RBI, while Reed Jinright had three and Davis Allen had two.

Game two went just three innings and Jade Sikes pitched all three of them. He allowed one unearned run on one hit and struck out two batters.

McWhorter stole the show when he finished 3-3 at the plate with 7 RBI and three runs scored. Four of his RBI came on a grand slam.

Cody Hollis finished with two hits, while Allen, Reed Jinright, Wood Jinright, Nathan Renfroe, Trevor Barron and Sikes all had one hit.

The Patriots will be back in action on Thursday when they host Edgewood.
