Lady Trojans begin Enterprise tournament 0-2

The Charles Henderson Lady Trojans began play in the Enterprise Tournament on Friday evening with a pair of games against host Enterprise and Wicksburg.

The Trojans started the tournament 0-2 after falling to Enterprise 13-5 and Wicksburg 9-3.

Emma Kirkpatrick pitched 1.1 innings in game one and took the loss after she allowed seven total runs, six of which were earned on seven hits. She also had one walk. Sydni Garrett also got in the game and pitched the remainder of the contest for the Trojans.

Rose Snyder, Kirkpatrick and Garrett all picked up a hit in the contest.

The Wildcats scored four quick runs in the opening inning of play with four hits, including a double.

The Wildcats blew the game open in the second when they scored seven more runs on five hits. They had two doubles and a triple in the inning.

The Trojans got on the board in the bottom of the inning. Kaitlyn Richardson and Dakota Berry both scored on an error off the bat of Ashlyn Shaver. Shaver came around to score on an error by the Wildcat catcher.

After Enterprise scored their final two runs in the top of the inning, the Trojans scored their final two runs in the bottom of the third. Kirkpatrick led off the inning with a homerun and Tucker Earles followed suit with one of her own to bring the score to 13-5.

Molly Kate Sanders got the start in game two for the Trojans. She pitched the game’s first three innings while surrendering eight total runs, six of which were earned.

The Trojans finished with four hits by Whittaka Lowery, Snyder, Garrett and Holly Hughes.

The Trojans scored all of their runs in the fourth inning after trailing 9-0.

Hughes drove in Garrett with a single for the inning’s first run. Lowery followed up with a two-run single to score both Madison Stewart and Shaver.
