Patriots fall to Lee Scott

The Pike Patriots scored three runs in the seventh, but came up one run short in a 4-3 loss to Lee Scott in a key area game on Friday night in Auburn.
The loss for the Patriots drops their record on the season to 20-4.
Nathan Renfroe pitched six innings for the Patriots to take the loss. He allowed four runs, only one of which was earned on six hits and one walk. He struck out six.
The Patriots finished with four hits by Davis Allen, Reed Jinright, Wood Jinright and Renfroe.
The Patriots fell behind in the third when Lee Scott scored three runs on four hits. The Patriots committed two errors in the inning.
The Patriots got on the board in the fourth when Renfroe reached on an error by the first baseman to drive in Allen to bring the score to 3-1.
After Lee Scott scored their final run in the sixth, the Patriots went into the seventh trailing by three at 4-1.
Reed Jinright drove in the Patriots’ second run of the game on a double to drive in Hollis and bringing the Patriots to within two at 4-2. The Patriots inched a little closer when Cole McWhorter hit a sacrafice fly to score Allen.
The Patriots had the tying run on third with two outs in the inning, but Renfroe struck out looking to end the threat and the game.
The Patriots will be back in action today when they host Bessemer in a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
