Lady Bulldogs fall to Providence in overtime

The Pike County Lady Bulldogs had their season come to a close on Wednesday evening when they fell to Providence Christian 58-51 in the Class 3A Area 4 Tournament in Daleville.
The Bulldogs finished the regular season with 11 wins.
“They gave it their all,” said head coach Todd Reynolds. “All the players are returning next year. I am excited about next season.”
Precious Vaznaian led the Bulldogs with 29 points, while Kyah Rouse finished with 12 and Tajh Boyd had 5. Aliah Broadnax contributed with three points, while Lauren Pearson had two.
The Bulldogs started slow in the loss on Wednesday by scoring just four first quarter points. They went into the second trailing 12-4.
Vaznaian scored 12 points in the second quarter, and the Bulldogs cut their deficit down to 3 heading into halftime trailing 24-21.
The Bulldogs outscored the Warhawks again in the third quarter 15-12 thanks to Rouse’s 8 points. The game went into the fourth quarter tied at 36. Both teams stayed neck and neck and ended the game deadlocked at 48.
Vaznaian’s three made free throws were all the Bulldogs could score in the extra session. The Warhawks scored 10 points and secured a spot in the next round of the tournament.
