Bulldogs sweep Wicksburg

For the second night in a row the Pike County varsity basketball teams swept an area opponent. After knocking of Houston Academy on Thursday night, the varsity girls and boys followed suit on Friday night against Wicksburg.
The Lady Patriots kicked off the varsity slate with a 55-22 win. The boys followed the Lady Bulldogs with an emphatic 51-19 win over Wicksburg to close out the evening.
The win for the Lady Bulldogs evens up their area record at 2-2.
“You want to peak around this time of the season and I feel the team is starting to come together and mesh,” said head coach Todd Reynolds. “We travel to Barbour County tomorrow (today) looking for a three game win streak and to boos our confidence.”
Precious Vaznaian led the way for the Lady Bulldogs with 21 points. Kyah Rouse also finished in double figures with 14, while Aliah Broadnax had nine.
The boys remained undefeated in area play with their win on Friday evening.
The Bulldogs held Wicksburg to single digits in all four quarters including in the third when they shut Wicksburg out.
The Bulldogs had three players score in double figures led by Andres Burney who finished with 16 points, while Jaidyn Wilson had 12 and Jahzarian Lampley had 10.
Like the Lady Bulldogs, the varsity boys will travel to Barbour County today to take on the Jaguars.
