The Pike County Lady Bulldogs led at halftime, but couldn’t hang on as they fell to Geneva County 42-32 on Thursday night in Brundidge.

Despite losing, head coach Todd Reynolds believes his team played the best half of basketball that Pike County has seen in a long time.

“That was the best half of basketball this program has had in three years,” Reynolds said. “We are trying to get these young players to buy into the system. Against Goshen they they tried to do things their own way. Tonight we did things my way, and we had a lead at halftime.”

The Bulldogs led 16-11 heading into halftime, but the second half was a different story. Geneva County outscored the Bulldogs 19-3 in the third quarter and entered the final frame holding a 30-19 lead.

The Bulldogs were able to get back to within 8, but couldn’t complete the comeback.

Precious Vaznaian led the Bulldogs with 19 points and scored all of the Bulldogs’ points in the second half.

The Bulldogs will be back in action this evening when they travel to take on Charles Henderson.

“We are in build mode,” Reynolds said. “We are getting ready for area play and that was a step in the right direction.”
