Patriots knock off Eagles

The Pike Liberal Arts boy’s basketball team knocked off rival Fort Dale 50-37 on Tuesday night in Greenville.

The Patriots outscored the Eagles in the second and third quarters 36-21 to help secure the win.

The Patriots and Eagles played a tight game early and went into the second quarter tied at nine. Wood Jinright gave the Patriots five points in the second quarter and 16 overall. They went into the locker room at halftime holding a 25-18 lead.

The Patriots scored 16 again in the third quarter and nine in the fourth to secure the 13-point win over the rival Eagles.

Reed Jinright led the way in scoring for the Patriots with 12 points. Cole McWhorter finished with nine, while Max Copeland, Jade Sikes and Wood Jinright both finished with six.

The Lady Patriots continued to struggle offensively in their 58-14 loss to the rival Eagles on Tuesday night. Shelby Renfroe led the Patriots with 10 points.

The Patriots will be back in action on Thursday when they travel to take part in the Abbeville Tournament.
