Patriots fall to Warriors

The Pike Patriots came up short in a 49-35 loss to the Lee-Scott Warriors on Monday night in Auburn.

The Patriots finished with just one player finish in double figures. Reed Jinright had 10 points.

The Patriots were outscored 12-6 in the opening quarter. The Warriors’ advantage grew in the second when the Patriots were outscored 10-3 and went into the half trailing 22-9.

The Patriots attempted to inch closer in the second half. The Patriots scored 11 third quarter points and shrunk their deficit to nine at 29-20 entering the fourth.

The Patriots got to within eight with 3:25 remaining but couldn’t climb all the way back.

Wood Jinright finished with eight points while Cody Hollis and Javon Christian had six. Ethan Green had three.

Like the boys, the Lady Patriots also had their fare share of trouble against Lee-Scott on Monday night. They fell to the Warriors 59-13.

The Patriots defense allowed double-digit points in three of the four quarters on Monday. The Patriots meanwhile scored nine in the first half and went into the break trailing 23-9.

The second half didn’t show much improvement for Pike. The Lady Patriots managed to score four points in the second half while allowing 36.

Shelby Renfroe led the Patriots in scoring with six, while Haleigh Dewberry had four, Tiffany Johnson had two and Hollis Floyd had one.

Both Patriot squads will be back in action this evening when they host Abbeville beginning with junior varsity play at 4 p.m.
