Lady Bulldogs close out regular season with sweep of Elba

The Pike County Lady Bulldogs closed out the regular season with a sweep of the Elba Tigers Monday afternoon 25-19, 25-15 and 25-16 on senior night.
The win for the Bulldogs gives them a regular season record of 8-5.
“We’re trying to get some degree of consistency and tonight was no different,” said head coach Todd Reynolds. “The games were close to start out and then we would rally and get a breather to coast to a win. All three of the sets were close early and then we would pull away.”
Senior Mercedes Harvis finished the match with seven kills, while Precious Vaznaian had 13 kills and 4 aces. Senkeithia Thompson had 8 aces and 17 assists while Keeyah Rodgers had 10 kills and 5 aces.
For the second consecutive season, the Bulldogs will be a four-seed in the upcoming area tournament which is set to begin next Tuesday at Providence High School.
The Bulldogs will face Daleville first at 3:15 p.m. with the winner advancing to take on perennial power Providence.
