Troy begins state tournament 2-0 after win over Spanish Fort

The Troy Dixie Boys improved to 2-0 in the state tournament on Sunday when they defeated Spanish Fort 11-1.

Press Jefcoat got the start for Troy and pitched all five innings of the shortened game against Spanish Fort. Jefcoat allowed just one run on two and he struck out six batters.

Troy finished with 14 hits against the Toros on Sunday. Brady Huner, Jayden Jordan, Daryl Lee and Nate Braisted all finished with two hits. Braisted and Jefcoat led Troy with two RBIs.

Troy jumped out to a 2-1 lead after scoring a run in both the first and second innings. In the third inning Troy got a comfortable 8-1 lead after scoring six runs in the third inning.

Lee, Braisted, Adrian Cardwell, Jefcoat, Noah Prestwood all had RBIs in the inning.

Troy added two more runs in the fourth and one more in the fifth to end the game, giving Troy the win.
