Trojans start region tourney 1-1

The Charles Henderson Lady Trojans began play in the Class 5A South Regional in Gulf Shores with a 10-6 loss to Eufaula on Thursday.
Molly Kate Sanders pitched 4 2/3 innings allowing six runs on five hits. Emma Kirkpatrick came and to pitch the final 2.1 innings and gave up four runs on four hits.
The Trojans finished with eight hits against the Tigers led by Rose Snyder who went 3-3. Kirkpatrick finished the game 2-4 with two RBIs, while Sidney Armstrong, Tucker Earles and Graci Williams all had a hit each.
The Trojans jumped on the Tigers for three early runs in the first inning when they sent eight batters to the plate and tallied three hits. Kirkpatrick came around to score the game’s first run when Lindsey Fox was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded .
With the bases still loaded, Earles smacked a single scoring both Snyder and Armstrong.
The Tigers picked up two hits in the second inning and scratched across their first run of the game, making it 3-1.
The Trojans answered in the third inning when Whitaka Lowery scored on a groundout by Earles making the score 4-1.
The Tigers added two more runs in the fourth to once again cut the Trojans lead down to one at 4-3. They had three hits in the inning including a two-run double.
The Tigers went on to add three more runs in the fifth after the Trojans surrendered three hits and two errors, helping the Tigers gain a 6-4 lead.
The Trojans got back in the game in the sixth when Kirkpatrick hit a two-run homerun after the ball clanked off the centerfielder’s glove to bring the score to 7-6.
That would be as close as the Trojans would get as the Tigers had their second three-run inning to go up 10-6.
After being forced into the loser’s bracket, the Trojans took on Citronelle in the night cap. The Trojans scored in three of the first four innings on their way to a 12-1 win.
Kirkpatrick got the start for the Trojans and pitched four innings allowing just one unearned run on six hits.
The Trojans finished with eight hits led by Snyder and Fox, who each had two.
The Trojans scored in the first on a couple sacrifice flies by Lowery and Earles.
After adding a run in the second on a Snyder single to go up 3-1, the Trojans put four runs on the board in the fourth to go up 7-1. Snyder hit a two-run single to score Kaitlyn Richardson and Graceson Adams, Lowery singled in Snyder for the third run of the inning and Fox singled in Armstrong.
The Trojans scored five more runs in the fifth on one hit and four errors to give them the 12-1 lead.
The Trojans will continue play on Saturday with first pitch and opponent still to be determined.
